Gestalt approach has the basic premise that life happens in the present—not in the past or the future—and that when we are dwelling on the past or fantasizing about the future we are not living fully.
Through living in the present we are able to take responsibility for our responses and actions. To be fully present in the here and now offers us more excitement, energy, and courage to live life directly.
In the session, I do not follow specific guidelines, I use creative approaches, informed by my theatrical, therapeutic and movement background. What is consistent is the emphasis on direct contact, direct experience and experimentation.
In these groups, we gather together, we create a safe, confidential container to explore and experience.
We start with a basic practice of meditation and grounding.
We follow with a group check in, and explore issues that are coming up, internal or interpersonal conflicts, with awareness and presence.
This exploration happens through dialogue with the facilitator, the group, or parts of oneself.
Participating can result in greater self-awareness, feeling connected with others and yourself, and decreased feelings of loneliness and shame.
As we come together and share, we create community.
The group can be a real support and stimulus to your personal growth.
